After illness or surgery, booking a ticket may not be the only requirement for air travel. Clinical stability, ability to sit, oxygen needs and recent procedures or hospitalisation can lead an airline to request additional medical information.
Information that makes coordination easier
The travel decision depends on clinical stability and meeting relevant airline and medical requirements. With serious or actively worsening illness, travel plans should not take priority over medical safety.
Safe assessment and the next step
The discharge summary, diagnosis and current clinical-status documents are collected.
Airline MEDIF or similar medical-form requirements are checked.
When a fit-to-fly assessment is required, an appropriate physician pathway is arranged.
Oxygen, wheelchair, stretcher or medical-escort requirements are operationally planned.
Airport and ground-ambulance connections are coordinated when needed.
A fit-to-fly document is not a guarantee that an actively serious illness is safe. If the clinical condition is worsening, travel should be reconsidered and medical assessment prioritised.
Prepare passport, ticket/booking, discharge summary, recent reports, medication list and any medical form or email received from the airline in one file.
Medi Guest Istanbul helps coordinate documents, airlines, medical escorts and transfers for medically supported travel from Istanbul.
